make a difference

Joined the young ones for volleyball match over the weekend. Played only for one game and then I let the young energetic souls played for the rest of the games while I made full use of my cheering screaming talent. Bukan I pandai main pun! Just sitting by the court was fun actually, watching the young ones brought me back to younger days when life was at tip top fun and sports did not cause painful aftermath (oh I sound sooo old!). Thank God I didn't hurt my hand this time. The previous weekend it was swollen so bad that it hurt to even hold a mouse. I need my ugly hands in good shape to write my chapters.

I cleaned up my unimail in-box today, getting rid of old emails and forward messages. Deleted most of the fwd emails I received but I think this one deserves to be put up somewhere. Some simple things, they're doable, not rocket science.

autumn in my heart

All I want is a room somewhere,
far away from the cold night air.

With one enormous chair;
Oh wouldn't it be loverly?

Lots of choc'late for me to eat;
Lots of coal makin' lots of heat.

Warm face, warm 'ands, warm feet,
Oh wouldn't it be loverly?

Oh, so loverly sittin' abso-bloomin'-lutely still!
I would never budge 'til Spring
crept over my window sill.

Someone's head restin' on my knee;
Warm and tender as he can be,

Who takes good care of me;
Oh wouldn't it be loverly?

Loverly, loverly, loverly, loverly........
-Eliza Doolittle, My Fair Lady, 1964

Cold wet autumn.. been raining since Monday and dark gloomy days put me on gloomy mood (me and my blame it on the weather syndrome!). I found myself singing to this msDoolittle song while making some coffee this morning. ah yes, I've been stuffing myself silly with chocs lately.. gosh that added 7kg is definitely gonna stay. I don't need coal, I have my heater... nah.. no head resting on my knee either.

If there is one, that would be loverlyyyyyyyyyyy..... ;)

I hate texting. Ok, hate is too strong, I don't like texting, I prefer calling. I wonder why I even bother to sign up for v0daf0ne TXT2000 - pay NZD10 to send 2000 text in a month (v0daf0ne to v0daf0ne only, NZ only). I can't even send a hundred txt per month, let alone 2000. Wanna text? here, take my phone.

6 weird things

Firstly, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY to all women out there!!

~and here comes the tag part~

Rules of the game: Each player of this game starts out by telling 6 weird things about themselves on their own blog, as well as state the rules clearly. At the end, you will need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list out their names. After you do that, leave them a comment on their blogs letting them know you tagged them.

I was tagged by 3 bloggers; bittersweet chocolatey Linda, Ahni & JoKontan. It took me a while to do this '6 weird thing' because I could not find what's weird about me.. well, at least I don't think I'm a weirdo. My blog title is 'ordinary life' so I guess I am ordinary. Aaaaanyway, here's the list.. now you tell me whether I'm weird or not.

1. I eat my corn-on-the-cob by rows. I bite off one row of kernels first before I start the next row (doesn't matter which side I start) and I bite 'em clean. I usually don't let people get a bite on my corn-on-the-cob because they'll leave ugly bite marks that just don't go with my nicely eaten rows. You see the photo up there, I don't want my corn to look that way! So you will not get a bite on my corn-on-the-cob, but I'll share with you my corn-in-a-cup :)

2. Saya tak geli. I have almost no tickle response, or I could say that I can control my tickle reponse. I hardly have that reflex. Don't poke my waist, don't touch my sole.... don't waste your time trying to tickle me. I love to tickle others but they can't tickle me!

3. I don't eat soy beans and most soy bean products (except kicap a.k.a soy sauce and mayonnaise). So please, don't give me soy bean milk, tofu, beancurd, tempe, taufufah, fuchuk, taucu etc. no matter how delicious you claim them to be. I just don't like the soy taste. It has nothing to do with allergies. Now don't go telling me how good it is for health, I've heard enough of that.

4. My first language is Malay, and whenever I'm in Malaysia I speak Malay most of the time but when I'm REALLY angry as in fuming-volcanic-erupting-mad, I will automatically speak (or yell if I need to) in English. When 'my blood go upstairs' or when I reach certain boiling point I become orangputeh celup y'know! I didn't realize I actually do that until a few friends and ex-boss pointed it out. So if you're talking to me in Malay and you piss me off but I still keep saying things in Malay, you're probably still in the safe zone. If you notice a change of language, that means you are so D.E.A.D... however, those who speak to me in English from the start cannot tell my level of anger through the same way.

5. I'm in love with celestial bodies. Anyone who come to this blog regularly would know that I'm a sucker for full moon. Not just the moon, I also love the stars, the sun and everything from up above. Whenever I walk alone at night I always make a point to stop and look up to the sky. If it's not too cold and if the sky is clear I may stop and sit and watch the glitters, alone. My idea of a romantic date is a picnic under the stars. (better if my date owns a telescope! :D )

6. When I watch a movie, most of the times I care less of the characters in the leading role. My mind would wander and think of what would happen to the guy mrBond punched just now, what would happen to the girl mrhunkyromeo ditched just to be with his 'destined' love, would that guy commit suicide because missirritatinglysweet who was with him for 10 years decided to run away with her newfound 'match from heaven'? Very few movies can make me stay focused on the leads & main plot.

Well, I don't think the list is weird as in W.E.I.R.D. See I told you I'm normal!

And..... the rule says that I'm supposed to tag 6 others. Erm.. most of the blogs I read have done it. Siapa yer... ok, guys & girls, I pass the baton to you!

1. Teek
2. Binx
3. King Izzat
4. TheUncute
5. Freak & Geek
6. Cik YY (udah ler tu.. dah lama sgt bertapa depan Hollywood hills, buat tag ni pulak!)

A special shout out to my dearest friend Fatim in Germany, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! May Allah bless you always. Thank you for keep reminding me things that I tend to forget, thank you for caring... thank you dear sister. *hugs* I nak peluk tangan tak sampai la....

*
Tim, my memory is failing, I can't clearly recall whether it's on the 8th or the 9th! forgive me.

on the stove

easy peasy black pepper steak & veggies

"Ubi tu kan suka letak gambar food kat blog dia,"
Haven't put up any food pic this year... so here comes the first one :) The first meal I cooked for the year 2007 (rujuk gambar di atas), that is if I don't include the fried eggs to accompany my mee goreng tapau, or those mee maggi soaked in boiling water or the half boiled eggs I made in the mornings when I was in Malaya in the first 2 months of the year.

Saya rajin masak?

Some old friends complimented that photos of my food 'nampak sedap'. Well, girls, trust me, it's not the taste, it's the look! I actually go for masak cantik-cantik, not masak sedap-sedap because I am not a good cook but I believe I can make my dish look good. I like my food to be naturally colourful- that is I must have a combination of green/red/yellow and also brown/black/white. The eyes can help your tounge to believe that the food tastes good, really!! :)

Ala.. macam orang la jugak kan. Kalau yang cantik tu kan..... (sila habiskan ayat ini mengikut kreativiti sendiri.. hehe..)

Ubi: Anyone out there in Gelugor, Penang? Please tapau me some nasi+ayam kapitan+okra at Nasi Kandar Shariff stall *drool*
